Travel is an integral part of the life of mankind. But the scale of travel has changed a lot over the years. In the past, travel simply meant going from one place to another. People were not very demanding of any particular class while traveling by rail and travel. Trains were once made of coaches, where seats were made of iron rods, where people could sit.
But with the advancement in technology, facilities, and services, people have started taking care of these details while traveling. Soon, idle classrooms coach with toilets, sinks, padded berths, and more. This was when the concept of AC coach in the front coach (now known as the Golden Temple Mail) started. However, the technology used for air conditioning in 1934 was quite unconventional. Thanks to the modern Indian Railways who are tasked with providing comfort and ease to passengers at every stage.
With the changing travel requirements, Indian Railways now offers a variety of options to travel anywhere in India. I enjoy every trip, but I know various abbreviations by Indian Railways like First AC (1A), Second AC (2A), Third AC (3A), First Class (FC), Executive Class (EC) Is not. ) Etc. and what are the differences between these various classes?
First AC (1A) Facilities in Indian Railway
The first-class AC sleeper of Indian Railways is the most expensive mode of transport. They are all AC coaches. It has 4 or 2 berths per compartment and 1A coaches do not have upper lateral or lower lateral berths. The compartments with 2 berths are called coups and those with 4 berths are called cabins.
Each compartment has a door that passengers can lock from inside. The fee for First AC is very high, sometimes even higher for air tickets, but it is worth a try. The berths are more comfortable and spacious, have a small ladder to reach the upper berths, bins to throw away the garbage (thanks to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan) and small tables for each passenger to take their meals.
In trains like Rajdhani and Duronto, food is served in plates and cutlery bowls and there is a special menu for 1A passengers unlike the 2A and 3A coaches where the food is filled with kitchen configurations. ‘IRCTC in various locations. In some trains, each first AC compartment also has a button to call the attendant at any time.
In some trains, sinks are also provided within each compartment. There is also a bathroom with a coach shower where passengers can bathe and get ready. Second AC (AC 2Tier) Facilities Indian Railway/Train
This is the second AC sleeper class of Indian Railways. In terms of functionality, it is lower than earlier coaches, but in terms of service and comfort, it is above class 3A. It has 6 berths in each compartment. There are only 2 berths on each side of the compartment and no central berth.
Therefore, it is sometimes classified into 2 levels. This gives enough space to passengers, unlike the third congested AC coaches. The seats are spacious and curtains have been provided opposite the 3A coaches in each compartment, where curtains were recently removed. A reading lamp has been provided at each berth so that anyone can use it individually.
Food is served in the second and third air conditioning! Although you feel that the attendees are more attentive and you have to give all the things you need in 3A, while the attendants in 2A (fry extra or extra rice or more pillow or extra etc.). They are more stubborn and may refuse to bring you anything else.
As a passenger, I miss the discussion about random communication with the train and the co-passengers here, as people do not engage in a lot of discussions and usually speak in these coaches. It is quieter in second AC coaches than in third AC and sleeper coaches.

Third AC (AC 3Tier) Facilities in Indian Railway/Train
It is the most common and preferred travel class for Indian middle-class travelers. The third AC sleeper has 8 berths in each compartment. The lower berth’s backrest is pulled upward to make it a central berth, and as the three seats on each side of the compartment become open, it becomes impossible for an adult to sit upright when the three berths are open.
Also, there are no reading lights on the berths which are in second class air conditioning. The upper and lower berths given in the 2A sleeper, with the exception of the reading lamp. Therefore, the side berth has extra space and there is no risk of being hit on the side berth. The toilets in the 2AC and First AC sleeper coaches are not as clean. The structure of the 8-bed compartment makes it compact.
Third AC coaches are generally the heaviest coaches on the train. Well, one thing I like about this class is that people get into more discussion in this class, so if you are not looking for personal space, you can engage in a group discussion with your co-travelers. Otherwise, you can get on the top bunk and avoid communication with others.

Sleeper (SL) Facilities in Indian Railway/Train
These are sleeper class coaches by the Indian Railways. They are non-AC trainers and have 8 berths per compartment. Windows are not protected by thick glass unlike AC coaches, so there is adequate ventilation. But dust, sunshine, and water (during rain) with air come through the windows. It is very hot during the day and very cold during the nights in these coaches. You can see and feel more beautiful countryside in sleeper class coaches.
Since there are no guides for these coaches, safety is a major problem in this class of travel. In this class, there are many hawkers inside the train selling tea, coffee, Bhelpuri, books, and many other things. The best thing about the coming and going of these peddlers is that it reminds you of your childhood memories. These hawkers are not allowed to board the train in class AC coaches. Since it is very economical to travel in sleeper class, it is particularly preferred by travelers for overnight travel.
You can see people talking a lot about any subject in this class. There is too much noise (windows and chatter chatting). The capacity of this coach is normally 72 passengers, but don’t be surprised if you see two or more passengers inside the sleeper coach. Actually, many people with waiting list tickets or unreserved tickets also travel in this class. So if you are looking for a moment of solitary peace, we strongly recommend that you do not like this class.
